This will be achieved by the structured application of management techniques that enable the organisation to identify and implement measures for reducing energy consumption and costs by examining and implementing:

  • Energy Procurement

  • Policy Development
  • Energy Management Responsibility
  • Energy surveying and auditing
  • Training and education
  • Capital project management.

Waste Minimisation

Servosteel will continue to carefully monitor the quantity of waste which is generated by maintaining the Waste Stream Record. Servosteel will continue to investigate possible recycling schemes to divert waste from disposal, together with promotion of waste generation reduction through education and training. A target of the reduction of waste disposed to landfill of 1% against 2006 total (tonnage waste disposed to landfill versus tonnage processed by site) and a reduction of hazardous waste disposed by 1% against 2006 total (tonnage waste disposed to landfill versus tonnage processed by site).

Water Use

Servosteel will continue to carefully monitor the quantity of water used within the Coil Pickling Process by maintaining of the Water Usage Record. Servosteel will investigate possible methods of reducing the quantity of water consumed, through recycling of water and process management, together with promotion of efficient use of water through education and training. A target of the reduction of water used within the process of 1% against 2006 total (m3 used versus tonnage).

Energy

Servosteel will continue to carefully monitor the quantity of energy which is consumed by maintaining the Energy Consumption Record. Servosteel will further investigate areas of improvement within Energy Efficiency. A target of the reduction of energy used within the process of 1% against 2005 total (kWh used versus tonnage) through installation of the Maxsys Fuel+ Economiser system and the implementation of Monitoring and Targeting using the new automated metering system.
